Glycemic Index: Relevance to Consumer Health Seminar
Food Industry Training - Reading is to host a seminar at the Royal Institute of Public Health in London on the subject of Glycemic Index on May 7th 2004. The Glycemic Index (GI) is a measure of a food's impact on blood glucose levels. Many doctors and dieticians consider a diet high in foods with a high GI to be a significant risk factor in obesity, heart disease and type II diabetes.
This topical seminar will explore the nutritional perspective, discuss the current situation in the marketplace, as well as providing guidance and advice to food manufacturers on the support available for developing products with a lower GI.
