Pharma lab expansion
RSSL Pharma has completed refurbishment of its laboratory facilities, as part of a major investment programme that has expanded RSSL's capacity for routine pharmacopoeial testing and investigative analysis of pharmaceutical products. Floor-space has been increased by 50%, staffing levels will rise by 25% by the end of the year, and the capacity for new work has been added with dedicated, isolated areas for handling cytotoxic materials and clinical samples.
The laboratory expansion has been accompanied by investment in new instrumentation including additional HPLC equipment. The new HPLC is fitted with an Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD) and a chiller facility, both necessary for analysis of non-UV absorbing, low molecular weight, semi-volatile analytes, which describes many drug candidates.
Completion of the refurbishment caps a summer of good news for RSSL Pharma, which included a routine inspection by the MHRA in July, following which RSSL Pharma received confirmation of MHRA's continued support of its licence for work such as Chemical/Physical Testing, Microbiological Testing and LAL Endotoxin Testing.
