First Showing of SPF at SCS
RSSL Pharma brings news of its new service in Sun Protection Factor (SPF) testing to SCS Formulate for the first time this year. The new service expands RSSL Pharma's offering of consumer-based dermatological testing services for the cosmetics industry. Tests are carried out according to the international SPF test method that was harmonised between the EU (COLIPA), Japan (JCIA) and South Africa (CTFA/SA) in October 2002, and published in 2003. Photo-irritancy and photo-sensitisation patch tests will also be offered alongside this new service.
The SPF testing can be carried out as part of a wider range of consumer studies, including sensory evaluation and consumer preference studies. If required, they can be supported further by analytical studies performed in RSSL Pharma's chemistry laboratories. Relevant testing procedures include determination of active ingredients by HPLC, compositional analysis and solvent residue determinations, and trouble-shooting investigations of problem products.
