RSSL Joins Forces With RSC

 24 Oct 2008

Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) has become one of the first corporate partners of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).  RSSL provides a range of analytical services to the worldwide food, drink and pharmaceutical sector, and provides employment and opportunities to approximately 150 scientists at its Reading laboratories.  It also supports the promotion of chemistry and sciences to students at the University of Reading and at schools in the town.

Speaking at a ceremony to present a commemorative plaque to RSSL, the company's managing director, Kay O'Donnell noted, "It's very important for RSSL to support the work of the RSC in communicating the importance of chemistry to the general public and in promoting science careers to our most able students.  We have to encourage talented people to take up careers in science.  At RSSL we are fortunate to employ some exceptional scientists and technicians who enable us to offer valuable services to the producers of food and medicines, but it is essential that the next generation is encouraged to follow in their footsteps.  So much of what we take for granted relies on the skills of chemists working in the background to ensure the safety and quality of our food and drink."
