New training for Responsible Persons

 15 Jun 2009

RSSL Pharma Training is to launch a new training course in the UK to develop the skills of Responsible Persons (RP), and those aiming for RP status, currently working in the wholesale distribution of pharmaceuticals. Article 79(b) of Directive 2001/83/EC requires licence holders to have a RP available to safeguard users against poor distribution practices. However, to date, there has been no formal training on offer to equip the RP to carry out these duties.

RSSL Pharma's RP training course will follow the format and detail that has already run very successfully in Ireland for the last two years in keeping with the EU and Irish Medicines Board expectations and requirements for RP’s. It will ensure that all RPs have the necessary knowledge and theory to implement and oversee EU Guidelines on Good Distribution of Medicinal Products for Human Use 94/C 63/03, and the requirements included in the MHRA 2007 Orange Guide.

The role of the RP is a hot topic with the UK MHRA right now as it battles against the growing number of counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the UK. This is because the role of the RP is crucial in preventing counterfeit products from entering the legitimate supply chain. The new training course is a timely intervention in the effort to raise standards across the industry.
