Glass Identification

RSSL has established a rapid, routine procedure for investigating glass fragments, which has been developed over many years.

A lot of information can be gained from even a small fragment using sophisticated microscopical and analytical techniques.

RSSL can usually determine:

• The glass type e.g. domestic, container, window, lighting, lead crystal, heat resistant and laboratory glass

• The shape and dimensions of the sample fragment

• How the original item was made e.g. moulded or spun-manufactured
