Insects

RSSL's microscopy department can assist with the identification of insects.  RSSL works with external consultants and can usually determine:

• The species of family or insect

• Its country of origin and association with specific raw materials

• Whether the contamination occurred before or after heat processing e.g. pasteurisation of the product by checking for activity of the heat-labile phosphatase enzyme
