Difference Testing
Difference testing is used to identify if there is a detectable difference between products.
Tests are often conducted to:
- Ensure a change in formulation or production introduces no perceptible change in sensory perception
- Substantiate a claim of 'new' or 'improved'
- Confirm that a new ingredient/supplier does not affect the perceived sensory attributes of the product
- Track sensory changes during shelf-life
Difference tests routinely conducted by RSSL's sensory panels include:
- Triangle test
- Duo trio test
- Paired comparisons test
