Contaminant Analysis
Products may become contaminated either accidentally or maliciously. This contamination may have safety or quality implications and in some cases may potentially cause harm to the consumer.
RSSL has extensive experience in contaminant analysis, with laboratories using methodologies which are at the leading edge of chemical analysis. The Analytical Chemistry Department has particular expertise in dealing with contamination of foods and beverages with toxic substances (including those involving extortion) and customer complaints.
Examples of the extensive range of analysis available include:
- Testing of contaminant metal
- Presence/absence of bleach
- Detergent contamination
- Toxicity screening analysis for drugs of abuse
- Petrol/diesel contamination
- Ionic and non-ionic detergent concentrate
- Alcohol substitution and adulteration in beverages
- Preservative testing
- Quality control of raw materials and finished products
- Identification of impurities detected by clients during routine QC
A rapid response to accidental or malicious contamination is often imperative to resolving an issue; help with crisis situations can be accessed via RSSL's Emergency Response Service (ERS)
