Natural Product Testing

To help you authenticate your products and assist with claim substantiation we have developed robust, reliable analytical methods for a wide range of natural products and ingredients.

Many of our tests analysis for a specific chemical that is unique to the original source. Our natural product analysis includes: Agnus Castus, Cayenne, Chondroitin, Echinacea, Gingko biloba, Ginseng, Guarana, Kava Kava, Propolis, Catechins, St Johns Wort, Valerian.

Food Colours Analysis

Food colours are used to make food look more attractive and can influence the perceived flavour. The use of colours in foods is controlled by the Colours in Food Regulations 1995 (SI 1995 No. 3124).

Our food colour analysis service can test a wide range of product for synthetic, natural or unauthorised colours.

Synthetic and Natural Colours: Sunset yellow, Ponceau 4R, Tratrazine, Erythrosine, Green S, Carotenoids, Anthocyanins

Unauthorised Colours: Sudan I-IV and 7B, Para Red, Butter Yellow, Orange G, Rhodamine B and Orange II.

Lipid Based Ingredients

The development of functional lipid based ingredients is continuing at a pace within the food and drink industry. There is good scientific evidence to suggest the benefits of omega-3, omega- 6, plant stanols and sterols.

The scientists in our Lipids Laboratory have extensive expertise in lipid analysis and can quantify these important ingredients in a range of food matrices to help you substantiate your claims. If you are looking to incorporate these ingredients into your products, our Product and Ingredient Innovation team can help.

Functional lipid ingredient analysis includes: plant stanols and sterols, omega 3 and 6, GLA, CLA, EPA, DHA, and coenzyme Q10.  We can also undertake matrix specific method development.

We are able to analyse products for a range of other functional ingredients to help substantiate label claims, support new product development, assess stability and assist your due diligence requirements.
