This insightful half day event will feature a host of expert speakers who will delve into the ever-evolving world of allergens and the importance of getting the right support to help you navigate the challenges successfully.

Our expert RSSL team, Barbara Hirst, Leyla Collins and Nia Willis, are delighted to be joined by Tracey Dunn from Anaphylaxis UK and Nick Laverty from Tesco, who will be sharing their unique perspectives on the topic.

We will focus on the issues food businesses still face when it comes to managing allergens, and attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts, share insights and build connections with fellow industry professionals.

Tracey Dunn – AllergyWise Manager, Anaphylaxis UK

Tracey is the Education and AllergyWise Manager for Anaphylaxis UK. Utilising her vast experience and knowledge, Tracey creates Anaphylaxis UK’s training and education packages aimed at helping allergen sufferers and those that live/work alongside them maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment. Having taught in schools for more the 30 years and having two allergic children of her own, allergy education is a passion for Tracey who has also volunteered with her local CCG and Education Authority to develop robust training for schools in her area. 

 

 

Nick Laverty - Head of Product Safety & Labelling, Tesco

Nick has over 17 years’ experience working at the forefront of Food Safety and Regulatory compliance. Heading up the Product Safety and Labelling team at Tesco, Nick shares the responsibility for setting the requirements for the manufacturing and labelling of Tesco products. The team also manage Tesco’s finished product testing and verification programmes which spans product safety, nutrition and authenticity. Prior to joining Tesco, Nick worked across the Science, Evidence & Research and Regulatory Delivery teams at the Food Standards Agency.

Barbara Hirst - Senior Food Safety and Quality Consultant

Barbara is widely recognised as an expert in allergen management. With an extensive analytical background, she uses her 20+ years' experience of working with food manufacturers to give advice on how to plan and carry out cleaning validation studies. 

 

 

Leyla Collins - Food Safety and Quality Consultant

Leyla has 10 years' experience of allergen testing and cleaning validation studies. Combined with her knowledge of food manufacturing environments, Leyla can make recommendations for appropriate sampling, results interpretation and suitable next steps.

 

 

Nia Willis - Group Leader, DNA and Protein

With over 20 years' experience of cleaning validations, allergen testing and results interpretation, Nia heads up a team of highly skilled scientists who support the food industry in adhering to stringent allergen labelling regulations.
