UK Recalls

**Cook 4 Portion Braised Beef in Brandy & Mushroom Sauce recalled
Cook Trading Ltd is recalling a batch of Cook 4 Portion Braised Beef in Brandy & Mushroom Sauce, because it has been labelled incorrectly with beef bourguignon ingredient information. This makes the product a possible health risk for those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, or an allergy to mustard. The Food Standards Agency has issued an Allergy Alert.

**Vaisyaa brand frozen fish products recalled
United Cater Ltd is recalling all date codes of a number of frozen fish products under the Vaisyaa brand, because they were produced in an unapproved establishment and do not comply with food hygiene legislation. The Food Standards Agency has issued a Product Recall Information Notice.

  • Inghams Enterprises has recalled BRANNANS BUTCHERY Thai Style Chicken Breast Kebabs from Aldi Stores in VIC only, due to the presence of undeclared allergens (soy and sulphite) caused by an incorrect label applied to the product.
  • Woolworths Ltd has recalled Macro Organic baby food in three varieties, Lamb and Sweet Potato Puree, Beef with Vegetable and Rice Puree and Chicken with Sweetcorn and Pasta Puree from Woolworths Supermarkets, Safeway Food for Less and Flemings Supermarkets nationally. The recall is due to a packaging fault resulting in the potential to cause spoilage and possible illness if consumed.

**From Canada

  • The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. are warning the public not to consume certain Kirkland Signature brand Organic Lean Ground Beef because it may be contaminated with pathogenic E. coli bacteria.
  • The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Regal Snacks are warning people with allergies to eggs not to consume certain KCB brand Pista Khatie. The affected product may contain egg which is not declared on the label.
  • The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Norma's Bakery Ltd. are warning people with allergies to milk not to consume certain banana bread and cookies. The affected products contain milk which is not declared on the label.
  • The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Incan Global Corp., are warning the public not to consume certain Nirapara brand Chutney Powder because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.
  • The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Kellogg Canada Inc. are warning people with allergies to milk not to consume certain Pringles* brand Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips described below. The affected product contains milk which is not declared on the label.

**From the US

  • FAHMAN ENTERPRISES INC. of Dallas, TX is voluntarily recalling PRAN TURMERIC POWDER because it was found to contain high levels of lead that could cause health problems to consumers, particularly infants, small children, and pregnant women if consumed.
  • Yoder's Country Market is recalling custom gift boxes distributed in December 2012 because they may contain 11 oz. bags of honey roasted peanuts which contain undeclared milk and wheat.
  • Barrel O’ Fun Snack Foods Co. of Perham, MN is recalling one specific lot of Safeway Snack Artist BBQ Potato Chips (UPC 21130-29106) because they contain undeclared milk.
  • Costco’s El Camino Real store in San Francisco, Calif., is recalling an additional 14,093 units of rotisserie chicken products that may be contaminated with a strain of Salmonella.
  • Garden Fresh Foods, a Milwaukee, WI. establishment, is recalling approximately 6,694 additional pounds of ready-to-eat chicken and ham products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
  • Costco’s El Camino Real store in South San Francisco, Calif., is recalling 9,043 units (approximately 39,755 lbs.) of rotisserie chicken products that may be contaminated with a strain of Salmonella Heidelberg.
  • Price Chopper Supermarkets is issuing a recall on Price Chopper eight inch (8”) and ten inch (10”) coconut custard pies, with UPC numbers 41735 23713, 41735 23721 and 41735 22453 due to a lack of ingredient information on the label; the pies contain milk, egg, soy, wheat and tree nut (coconut), which are known allergens.
  • Sunny Pine Farm of Twisp, Washington is voluntarily recalling Organic Chevre, Organic Parsley Chive Chevre and Organic Honey Lavender Chevre due to possible improper pasteurisation.
  • Costco, in Coon Rapids, Minn., is recalling an undetermined amount of lean fresh ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7
  • Reser’s Fine Foods, a Topeka, Kan. establishment, is recalling approximately 22,800 pounds of chicken, ham and beef products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

**EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF)
The database of rapid alert notifications hosted by the European Commission has recently changed format. The weekly list of notifications has been replaced by a database, searchable by week number.  The latest notifications, or updates to previous notifications are for 22 October 2013.
