UK Recalls

  • Mars Chocolate UK has taken the precautionary step of recalling products produced in the Netherlands that possibly contain pieces of plastic. Other products are being recalled in Europe which have not been distributed via the Mars UK distribution route. (FSA)
  • Asda has withdrawn its Extra Special Chocolate and Beetroot Cake because some packs might contain Extra Special Carrot, Courgette and Orange Loaf Cake which contains walnuts, and this is not mentioned on the product label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to walnuts. (FSA)
  • The Nut House Ltd has recalled its range of ‘Tasty Bake’ brand cakes because the products contain milk, which is not mentioned in the ingredients list on the packaging. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. (FSA)
  • Boulder Brands UK Ltd, Asda and Tesco are recalling certain bread products with a 'best before' date of 22 February 2016 or earlier, because a seed mix ingredient contained undeclared sesame seeds. Some of the products listed are known to have been manufactured with a sesame seed ingredient and others may have been cross-contaminated with it. (FSA)
  • Boulder Brands UK Ltd is recalling some packs of Udi’s Multi Seeded Bagels, Multiseed Bread and Multi Seeded Rolls because the sunflower seed ingredient in these products may be contaminated with sesame seeds. This ingredient is not mentioned on the product labels, which means that the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to sesame. (FSA)
  • Garden of Life LLC is recalling certain batches of Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Replacement products due to possible contamination with Salmonella. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has informed us that these products have been linked to a US outbreak of Salmonella Virchow infection in the United States. (FSA)
  • HEMA is recalling its chocolate flavoured meringues which contain soya that is not declared on the label. During production of the chocolate meringues, a number of packs were incorrectly labelled with the back label of the vanilla meringues. As a consequence, the label doesn't state that the product contains soya. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya. (FSA)

Canada Recalls 

  • Freshpoint Vancouver, Ltd. is recalling Del Monte and Sysco Imperial Fresh brand cantaloupes from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers should not consume and retailers, hotels, restaurants and institutions should not sell, serve or use the recalled products. (Canada Inspection)
  • Ecotrends Ecologics is recalling Wilderness Family Naturals brand Coconut Milk Powder and Organic Coconut Chia Pudding Mix from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk should not consume the recalled products. (Canada Inspection)
  • Hillview Meat Processor is recalling raw pork and pork organ products from the marketplace due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. Consumers should not consume and food service establishments, retailers, distributors and manufacturers in Alberta, should not serve, use, or sell these products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. (Canada Inspection)
  • Nestlé Canada Inc. is recalling specific lots of Nestlé brand Good Start 2 Concentrated Liquid Infant Formula from the marketplace due to potentially reduced bioavailability of nutrients. Consumers should not use or consume the recalled product. (Canada Inspection)

Ireland Recalls

  • As a precautionary measure, Mars Ireland is recalling certain batches of the above products, due to the possible presence of plastic pieces.  No other varieties of chocolate, pack formats or bar sizes are affected in Ireland. (FSAI)

US Recalls  

  • Lipari Foods, LLC has issued a voluntary recall of dark chocolate covered coffee beans packaged by sister company JLM due to an undeclared allergen of tree nuts (almonds). People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The products are safe for consumption by those who do not have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds. (FDA)
  • Rucker’s Wholesale and Service Co. of Bridgeport, IL is voluntarily recalling all of Uncle Bucks and Cabela’s Classic Candies Maple Nut candy peg bag, due to the presence of an undeclared peanut ingredient. People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. (FDA)
  • BELLEVUE, NEBRASKA - Marathon Ventures, Inc. announced today that it is voluntarily recalling various retail and bulk packages containing raw macadamia nuts as a precautionary measure because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.   • VISTA, CA - Fresh Creative Foods is recalling 8oz containers of H-E-B Tartar Sauce due to an undeclared fish (anchovy) allergen. Some plastic tubs have the correctly labeled Cocktail Sauce lid with a container labeled as Tartar Sauce when the actual contents are Cocktail Sauce. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. (FDA)
  • Health Matters America of Cheektowaga, NY, is recalling specific lots of Organic traditions Sprouted Flax Seed Powder and Organic traditions Sprouted Chia & Flax Seed Powder because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.   • Country Life Natural Foods of Pullman, MI is recalling shelled raw pistachios, sold in 2 lb bags and 30 lb boxes, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.   • Maytag Dairy Farms is voluntarily recalling 5 lots of "Maytag Blue" blue cheese wedges and wheels and 15 batches of blue cheese crumbles because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.   • Peking Food LLC of Brooklyn, NY, is recalling Chef Hon brand Steamed Buns With Seafood & Vegetable and Steamed Buns With Seafood Marinated In XO-Sauce, because they contain undeclared eggs. People who have an allergy to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. (FDA)
  • Forever Cheese Inc. of Long Island City, NY, is recalling 40 cases of Mitica brand Pecorino Aged Cheese in Walnut Leaves (Pecorino Foglie di Noci) from one specific production code because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.   • Whole Foods Market of Austin, Texas is recalling Pecorino Aged Cheese in Walnut Leaves sold in one Florida and one New York, NY store, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. (FDA)
  • Berks Packing Co., a Reading, Pa. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,320 pounds of beef products that may be misbranded, and may contain pork and erythorbate, an additive, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. (FDA)
  • Garden of Life LLC is expanding its January 29th voluntary recall to include additional lots of its Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Chocolate, Original, Vanilla and Vanilla Chai products because an ingredient used in certain lots of the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Virchow. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.   • International Foodsource, LLC Issues a Voluntary Recall of Various Raw Pistachios Products due to Possible Salmonella Risk.   • Ajinomoto Windsor Inc., a Portland, Ore. establishment, is recalling approximately 6,000 pounds of pork products due to misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product is labeled as beef, but contains pork, which is not declared on the product label. (FDA)
  • Flying Food Group, LLC, a Grapevine, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 1,006 pounds of Edamame Hummus Wrap products due to adulteration and misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The Edamame Hummus Wrap products are mislabeled and may contain Thai Style Chicken Peanut Wraps, which are formulated with peanuts and tree nuts, known allergens not declared on the product label.   • Winter Gardens Quality Foods, Inc., a New Oxford, Pa. establishment, is recalling approximately 3,710 pounds of chicken salad products that may be contaminated with extraneous plastic materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.   • Canyon Creek Soup Co., an Edmonton, AB, Canada establishment, is recalling approximately 7,275 pounds of meatball soup products that were not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Without the benefit of full inspection, a possibility of adverse health consequences exists. (USDA)
  • McCain Foods USA, Inc., a Lisle, Ill. establishment, is recalling approximately 25,215 pounds of bacon fritters that may be contaminated with extraneous plastic materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. (USDA)

Australia and New Zealand Recalls 

  • Westhaven Dairy Pty Ltd has recalled Westhaven Coconut Milk Yoghurt - Natural and Apricot Flavours from Young’s Vegie Shed Camdale, Eden Foods, Only Natural in TAS and MFS Fine Foods in VIC due to microbial (E.coli) contamination. Food products contaminated with E.coli may cause illness if consumed. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice. The products can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. (FSA)
