    Our dedicated RSSL Training business has been operational since 1987, delivering over 1,000 courses to over 10,000 delegates – a high proportion of whom are returning customers.

  • Can you please provide some information on your in-house courses

    Our in-house course offer provides training for up to 12 members of staff at a time depending on what you need, we offer the following types of training:

    • Standard (our open course delivered for your staff)
    • Tailored (using our open course material and content plus materials we have in our extensive library to create a more relevant course)
    • Bespoke training (writing new material if we don’t have anything that meets your requirements or incorporating your companies processes and SOP’s and writing material around these)

    Our subject matter experts will work closely with you to ensure they understand what you need so we can be sure to fully meet your requirements.

    Our in-house training courses are priced using a standard daily rate which is quoted excluding VAT and tutor travel and expense costs. For this amount we offer:

    • All tailoring by our tutor with the most relevant subject matter expertise (all material origination is chargeable)
    • Any costs arising from telephone calls coordinating and agreeing course content
    • Training for up to 12 delegates
    • All course materials and any reference data that may be required for each delegate attending the course
    • All other fees and costs associated with running this training course, including but not exclusive to the following:
      • Tutor fees
      • Individual Certificates of Attendance on completion of the training

    With regards to travel and where we can run this, we can accommodate any request, either inside or outside the UK. We would be delighted to start discussions with you as soon as you are ready.

  • I don’t live in the UK am I still able to attend?

    RSSL welcomes delegates from all over the world, all we request is that you have a good understanding of English (written and spoken). Please also remember to check any VISA requirements before booking your travel to the UK.

Booking Enquiries

  • Can I book myself on a course independently?

    We welcome bookings from self-sponsoring individuals. Just remember to check with the correct authority within your organisation as some company’s state that training must be booked through a specific department.

  • How do I book onto an open course?

    You can do so on our website by clicking into the course you wish to attend, selecting ‘book now’ against the date you wish to attend and completing the online shopping basket.

  • Can I book on behalf of somebody else?

    Yes, many delegates are booked onto courses by others, for example, dedicated departments within their organisations. Please follow the ‘Book Now’ link on the selected course date and the instructions in the next question.

  • How do I book courses on behalf of colleagues/employees?

    You can book training course places for yourself and others or just others depending on your situation.  To be able to do this you will first need to register yourself on our booking system.  Once you are registered, you will then be able to add delegates and book them onto the course they require as follows:

    • Select yourself as booker then click continue, the next screen will be displayed:
    • At this stage, you can amend the number of candidates (delegates) you wish to attend by pressing the arrow next to the number and changing it as you need
    • If you are booking a place for yourself one of the candidates should be kept as your name/account
    • If you are not booking a place for yourself, click remove next to your name you will then see a prompt confirming you want to remove yourself
    • Then click ‘Add candidate’ which will bring up a search form, If you have booked the colleague/employee onto a course before, you can search for or select their account in the list
    • Where you are booking a new colleague/employee, you will need to first add them by clicking the ‘Create new’ button at the bottom of the search form.  This will bring up a short registration form where you will need to enter their details.
    • Please note, once you have booked colleagues/employees onto courses for the first time, all you will need to do going forward is select them from the search form.

  • What happens after I book?

    One you have booked you will then receive your automated booking confirmation and planning your visit email. Once we have confirmed the course you will then receive your course confirmation and joining instructions.

  • What discounts do you offer?

    Our discount offers are as follows:

    10% Early Bird Booking discount offered on all bookings received 8 weeks or more in advance of the course date and paid prior to the commencement of the training course.

    Group Booking Discount Offer for 3 or more delegates from the same company on the same course, structured as follows:

    • First place – full published price, plus VAT
    • Second place – 20% discount off of full published price, plus VAT
    • Third place – 50% discount off of full published price, plus VAT

Course Enquiries

  • Are there any minimum entry requirements?

    Some course do have pre-requisites and we will make you aware of these at the time of booking. We ask that you ensure the course you would like to book onto is appropriate for the line and level of your work before you book. If you aren’t sure once reading through the course information, please call us on 0118 918 4076 to discuss your requirements further.

  • Do you provide lunch?

    Yes, all of courses are fully catered, and we provide all refreshments. If you have any dietary requirements please do let us know prior to the start of your course at

  • What time do your courses start and finish?

    All courses start at 9:30 on Day 1 (with coffee and registration from 9:00), where a course runs over more than 1 day, the subsequent days start at 9:00. Finish times for our courses differ depending on what course you have booked to attend – please contact us for exact finish times especially if you are arranging travel.

  • What is the dress code?

    We would suggest smart casual however it is important that you feel comfortable throughout the duration of your training course therefore please come dressed as you feel appropriate to make the most of your training.

  • Where is RSSL located and how do I get there?

    Our courses are held at our Training Centre at the Reading Enterprise Centre on the University of Reading campus, further details can be found on our website. (Any variation from this will be advised separately). If you are driving to the training centre, a parking permit will be required for parking during the duration of the training course, these can be collected from reception on arrival on the course morning. Please note that failure to display this permit will result in a £75 fine and/or clamping of your vehicle.

  • What accommodation is available near RSSL?

    Details of nearby accommodation can be found on our website, and on all course correspondence once you have booked your place. Alternatively we will be happy to provide you with these details should you require them, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

  • When will we know if a course is going ahead or if it will be cancelled?

    From time to time we may need to cancel or postpone a course. We will therefore send you a final confirmation approximately 2-4 weeks prior to the course commencement, once we know final numbers. We advise not to book non-refundable travel or accommodation before this confirmation is received however if you need to do this earlier, please feel free to contact us directly to check the current status.

  • Is there any work prior to or during the course?

    Yes, some of our courses require you to complete some pre-course work and have homework between course days. If you book a place on a course that has this you will be notified of this at the time of booking.

Financial and Post-Course Enquiries

  • How much do your courses cost?

    Our courses cost between £295 and £2695 (+vat) depending on the course type, duration, and your requirements. Please find the course you are interested in attending on our website to find out the current price.

  • How can I pay for the course?

    Payment is made against an invoice which contains all payment information.  Accepted payment methods are cheque, credit/debit card, Purchase Order or BACS transfer.

    Please note that payment must be made before course commencement in order to receive your certificate.  Should payment not be made prior to your attendance you will not receive your certificate and this will be sent on to you via email once payment has been confirmed.

    If you are paying by Purchase Order, please ensure a copy of the PO is sent to as soon as your booking has been made to ensure the invoice is raised with the correct information on.

  • When will I receive my Invoice?

    You will receive your invoice approximately 60 Days prior to your course start date. Please note if you require your Purchase Order number to be on your invoice you will need to send it to at the point of booking so we can add this to your invoice.

    If you require your invoice sooner than 60 days prior to your course date please contact us and we will be more than happy to arrange this for you.

  • Is accommodation included in the course price?

    Accommodation is not included in any of our course prices. As each of our customers have different preferences, budgets and requirements we instead provide an accommodation guide once your booking has been confirmed which shows all of the options available in Reading and the surrounding areas. 

    Please note our QMS Auditor/Lead Auditor is a residential course however accommodation is charged in addition to the course fees (contact us to find out the latest price for this) as a dinner, bed and breakfast rate which covers all meals and overnight accommodation and can be booked for your required duration (see specific IRCA QMS Lead Auditor FAQ’s for more information).

  • Will I get a certificate upon completion of the course and is there an exam?

    We issue certificates of attendance for each delegate upon completion of our courses (provided payment has been received). If you don’t receive your certificate after you have attended a course, we recommend you contact your finance department to check that payment has been made.  All certificates are issued electronically.  Currently, the only courses where an exam will be sat at the end of the course are

    • our IRCA accredited 5 day residential Lead Auditor course which has 2 exams throughout the week, the final one on Friday afternoon
    • some of our Food Courses where delegates are looking for Food Safety or HACCP qualifications accredited by the RSPH.

Cancellation or Transfer Enquiries

  • What happens if I would like to cancel my booking?

    If you would like to cancel your booking you will need to contact us as soon as possible on 0118 918 4235, 0118 918 4167 or

    A full refund will be given where written cancellations are received 25 working days before the start date of the course. A fee of 50% will be payable for cancellations received between 10 and 25 working days before the start date of the course. Full course fees will be charged for cancellations received within 10 working days of the course start date.

  • Do you allow substitutions?

    If you are no longer able to attend your chosen course date we will be more than happy for you to send a colleague in your place. Please notify us at and we will then be able to amend your booking free of charge.

  • Do I have to take the GDP course if I am attending the RP course?

    It is very helpful to have some background knowledge before attending the RP course, so the majority of people who take this course have at some point attended GDP training in the past. The GDP course is not a pre-requisite to being able to attend the RP course, but is advised upon depending on the level of knowledge you currently have around this area, as it will give you some good background knowledge and grounding to prepare you for the RP course.

IRCA QMS Lead Auditor Enquiries

  • Where is the course held?

    This 5 day residential training course is held in our purpose built training centre in Reading. We have pre-arranged accommodation for the duration of the training course and can increase this to include the immediate nights preceding and succeeding the course dates. We have negotiated a heavily discounted dinner, bed and breakfast rate which is only available at the venues we use if you book through us. There will be ample parking available at the accommodation and training centre.

  • What are the required prerequisites?

    This is a decision that will need to be made by each individual attending the course. IRCA state that before starting this course, delegates are expected to have prior knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001, and the following quality management principles and concepts:

    Management systems
    The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle
    The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review and continuous improvement.

    Quality management
    The fundamental concepts and the seven quality management principles (see ISO 9000):

    • Customer focus
    • Leadership
    • Engagement of people
    • Process approach
    • Improvement
    • Evidence-based decision making
    • Relationship management.
    • The relationship between quality management and customer satisfaction.

    ISO 9001
    Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001 and the commonly used quality management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 9000, which may be gained by completing an IRCA Certified QMS Foundation Training course or equivalent.
