  • Do pomegranates have an anti-aging power?

    A study, reported by the media as pomegranates having anti-aging properties, has investigated the effect of urolithins on muscle cells and aging.

  • Study supports dietary recommendations to replace saturated and trans-fat with unsaturated fat

    Recently there has been much confusion and controversy regarding the place of saturated fats in a healthy diet. A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine has examined the associations of specific dietary fats with total and cause-specific mortality in 2 large ongoing cohort studies.

  • Supplement found to reduce cravings for high-calorie foods

    A study similar to one summarised in the previous edition of food e news is reporting that consuming a type of powdered food supplement, based on a molecule produced by bacteria in the gut, reduces cravings for high-calorie foods such as chocolate, cake and pizza. Unlike the texture study, this study also investigates brain response using food pictures after supplement consumption.
