How to get started?

 

  • Get in touch - contact our team to discuss your nutritional testing and receive a tailored quote
  • Submit your sample - once you have confirmed you wish to go ahead and provided a purchase order you will receive guidance on sample submission and project set up through My RSSL, our secure client portal.  As a general guide, send a minimum of 250g finished product, larger quantities maybe needed with combining nutritional testing with allergen or vitamin and mineral analysis
  • Track your project - monitor the progress from submission to results delivery through My RSSL
  • Receive your results - your certificate of analysis is delivered within 7 days, expert interpretation is available on request.

Frequently asked questions

  • Most food and beverage products in the UK require nutritional data, covering energy, fat, saturates, carbohydrates, sugars, protein and salt.  Additional testing maybe required e.g. fibre, vitamins/minerals etc. depending on nutrition or health claims made on pack.

  • For routine label declaration on many products, calculation from ingredient specifications is acceptable under UK food labelling regulation.  However analytical testing is essential in many cases when products are close to the HFSS threshold, your product is highly processed, when nutrition or health claims require substantiation, when a retailers technical team request data, when formulations change or when you need to defend your label in the event of regulatory enquiry or consumer complaint.

  • This will depend on the scope of testing, but as a general guide we recommend a minimum of 250g of finished product per sample.  If you are combining nutritional testing with additional testing e.g. allergens, vitamins etc. a larger sample quantity will be needed.  Our team will confirm the exact requirements during the quoting stage.
